Join three experienced, in-country commercial law attorneys as they share their insights and perspectives about the legal and credit environment specific to each country.

Speakers

Mr. Juan Pablo Bonfico, is an attorney at the law office of Giacchino, Bonfico & Chevallier Boutell (GBKC), in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mr. Bonfico graduated from the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1999 and went on to earn his post graduate (Masters) degree in Commercial Law from the same University in 2004. During his more than 15 years as a business lawyer, Juan Pablo has been a valued advisor to a large number of clients in connection with many kinds of investments and civil, commercial, labor and administrative legal matters.

Ms. Ana Villarreal is the head of Bluestone Law International’s Chilean office. Ms. Villarreal graduated with honors from the Monterrey Institute of Technology (Tec de Monterrey) in 1986 and completed an L.L.M. at Georgetown University Law Center in 2000. As an active litigation and transactional attorney Ms. Villarreal has represented major financial institutions and government agencies in recovering various types of debt in Chile and throughout Latin America.

Mr. Octávio Aronis is the senior partner of Aronis Advogados in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Aronis earned a law degree from the Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas in 1984, and subsequently obtained graduate law specialization diplomas from the University of California Los Angeles and the Fundação Getulio Vargas (GV Law). Following in the footsteps of his father, Mr. Aronis has continued to provide a wide range of legal expertise to small, medium, and multinational companies that are doing business throughout Brazil and South America.

Moderator

Leonel A. Torrejon, ICCE is the Regional Credit Manager at J.J. Haines & Company, Inc. Leonel has more than 17 years’ experience in delivering value-added leadership in credit and A/R collections management in domestic and international markets. He has enjoyed senior leadership roles in process improvements and product development business solutions in the areas of credit risk management, customer retention and revenue growth. Leonel is an expert in developing scorecards and predictive metrics to forecast credit risk and opportunities and has lending underwriting expertise in addition to methodology in credit risk-reward practices that open up revenue opportunities. Previously, he held positions at the American Hotel Register, OfficeMax and BP and currently serves on D&B’s National Advisory Council. Leonel is a frequent presenter for NACM and FCIB and holds FCIB’s CICP and ICCE certifications. He has also been a trainer, mentor and author of the several educational sessions and is a member of Toastmasters. He is fluent in Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
