South Carolina is often difficult for companies to determine when the preliminary notice needs to be served because it can be served “any” time. The term “any” time is misleading in the fact that the preliminary notice traps unpaid funds owed from the owner to the general contractor. So serving the preliminary notice too “late” can mean that the lien is useless. During this session, members will be educated on strategies on when to serve the preliminary notice and how to communicate that strategy with management, sales and your customers.
